Hello, my name is Daniel Hubatch, head cosplay designer and prop artist here at Oak Heart Studios. I offer an exclusive and unique experience and product here at my shop. I am proud to have been working one on one with clients on Esty since 2016, helping bring their cosplay fantasies to life.
We all understand the importance of our favorite character's sword. Can you imagine Geralt of Rivia without his silver sword, Calimacil? Or John Snow without Longclaw? Worse yet, Aragorn son of Arathorn, without Anduril?
How could we? These iconic weapons are the cornerstone upon which the character hangs. A symbol of their personalities and nobody understands the importance of superb props better than a cosplayer! The Sword is everything, it's what makes the costume. My goal is to work closely with you on your dream costume prop. That special piece around which your costume revolves.
Why A Wood Sword?
Wooden swords have several benefits that steel simply cannot touch. First of all, a wooden sword is lighter, and far more comfortable to carry throughout a full day of Renaissance or Comic-con fun without growing weary of the weight of a steel sword. It's amazing how fast those steel swords go from four pounds, to forty in an hour, threatening to pull your pants right off!
A wooden sword, weighing on average no more than 15 - 20 oz, can be a work of art as well as function.
Our wooden swords have also been known to pass the San Francisco Comic Con's Indoor Weapon's Policy. Reportedly, one of the strictest in the country!

Sword Gallery Summary.
1. The Xena Warrior Princess.
My most recent custom sword order, this gorgeous piece featured Moonstones in the pommel and cross guard, with labradorite cabochons set into the beautiful walnut medallions on the scabbard.
The scabbard and sword were both included in their order and were made of 100% real and authentic materials. No synthetics here!
The scabbard was comprised of a thick, vegetable tanned cowhide core, which helps to protect the sword from damage, and was wrapped in brown buckskin for an authentic look and feel. The over the shoulder strap was designed to carry the sword across the back for a right handed individual, and was fully adjustable.
The Sword itself was made from premium kiln dried materials with a tough, hickory blade, and dark walnut hilt. This piece was designed with light sparring in mind, and all elements were bonded together with high grade wood bonding epoxy for strength on all joints.
Hand crafted by master wood smith, Daniel Hubatch.
Sold For: $2,500.
2. Ciri's Sword from The Witcher ( Video Game Version )
This custom order was one of the first highly elaborate swords I had the delight to create. It was made of hard maple, with red oak accents, and featured intricate designs wood burned into the blade, and unique cut outs in the blade and pommel. The geometric shape of the cross guard was by far the most challenging part of this piece, but the result was beautiful.
Whether it's swords, wands, or custom leatherwork, symmetry is essential. And while it was very difficult to achieve the proper symmetry in their beautiful Witcher inspired piece, the end result was stunning.
Order included the sword, scabbard, and Ciri's dagger.
Sold For: $789.99
3. Custom Dueling Saber.
This gorgeous saber was an exploration in new frontiers of woodworking, and allowed me to explore a technique called fire sanding and staining. In which one fires the wood with a torch, burning the porous winter grains, and than sanding and staining the project with, in this case, a red wood dye. The result was a beautiful and truly fiery result that is breath taking and demands the spotlight. This piece was intended for heavy sparing, and was made from hickory. Hickory is a favorite material for baseball bats in Major League Baseball, and is both extremely durable and splinter resistant, while retaining enough flexibility to absorb the shock of combat. It is a heavy wood with a dense grain pattern, and perfect for practicing your swordsmanship without sacrificing the weight of a real blade, or your partner's eyes!
If you are looking for a dueling weapon to practice your skills, please note that metal rods can be inserted into the blade customize weight and balance to your weapon. Ensuring realistic and efficient training results that polypropylene and other wood training swords cannot match.
This piece included the sword and scabbard.
Sold for: ( _)
4. Viking King Sword.
This sword was made from Red Oak an extremely durable wood renowned by the Druid's as their sacred tree.
This sword was inscribed with the Elder Futhark Runes; Pertho, the Rune of Mystery, and occult knowledge, Algiz, of Protection, and wisdom of the universe, and finally, Ehwaz; Movement, steady progress and physical shift.
This sword came with a beautiful scabbard featuring rabbit fur wrapped around the collar.

While training weapons are designed to sustain impact, irregularities in grain patterns, and fluctuations in humidity and climate can effect wood, and cause splintering, warping, or breaking. All OakHeartStudios swords, knives, and leather goods are sealed against the effects of sunlight, wind, rain, and other damage, but this does not guarantee they will not become damaged if misused or mistreated. Regular maintenance and bi-annual, to annual re-application of a sealant is recommended. You are responsible for the integrity and maintenance of your item.
